Shuffling the pack

Stephen Harper will today unveil his new Cabinet. There are tipped to be a raft of new entrants, particularly amongst those females, swimming in the Ottawa pool. There will also be promotions or continuity for the more experienced members.

All reshuffles highlight the perpetual conflict PMs find themselves in: do you go for experience (particularly in these challenging times) or do you go for the new faces and visually demonstrate a change in direction?

This conflict is a perpetual one because it is a question of balance. I fear Harper may tip the tiller too far in the direction of the ‘MTV’ group.
