Zimbabwe's global nightmare

Today's announcement by Mugabe is a leap back into the darkness that engulfs not only Zimbabwe but the entire African continent.

Yet it is not unexpected. Mugabe is a power-hungry megalomaniac whose removal will only be assured by external forces acting overtly (as in Afghanistan) or covertly.

There are those who baulk at taking direct action for fear of being tarred with the “post-colonialist” brush. Their timidity is misplaced and is costing ordinary Zimbabweans and not us dearly.
