In many ways the week ended the same way it began:
NORTH AMERICA
—President Bush continues to limp towards his enforced retirement from the Presidency (and increasingly looks like he'll be taking McCain with him) whilst.....
—In Canada, the Conservatives under Stephen Harper's captaincy head a minority government (albeit with slightly more support).
EUROPE
—The continent's leaders continue to undermine the viability of the European project by failing to take a co-ordinated approach to the financial difficulties engulfing them and their people.

ZIMBABWE
Robert Mugabe continues to cling on to power through cronyism, lies and fear. One has to wonder whether he had his fingers crossed when he signed the much-vaunted agreement with Tsvangirai back in September........................
