As the world’s eyes turn to the Gaza conflict’s aftermath let me be clear. Egypt’s prominent role in this crisis has been absurd.
Let’s leave aside the fact that all of Hamas’ roads lead back to the Egyptian border.
This is a country, which for all its glorious beaches, heritage and people cannot navigate a way out of the Mubarak maze.
How can a country which is effectively a one man, one-party state, where only Mubarak’s men prosper, dissent is discouraged (and in some cases destroyed), the media is heavily censored and human rights means nothing to the government, have assumed such a prominent role in this crisis?

"Mubarak maze" is a perfect way to explain the political state in Egypt right now.
