Israeli impatience

If the reports, that the UN aid HQ in Gaza City has been hit and is alight are accurate, it is of course lamentable.

But let us be clear. 20 days into the conflict Israeli forces have not achieved their main objective of completly stopping the rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel.

This must be frustrating not only for the politicians, but also the military commanders, who as each day goes by feel the breath of the international community on their neck evermore.

This breath, is of course foul, but its existence cannot be ignored.

It is not inconceivable that if the operation seems to be drifting, Israeli public opinion (which has so far been in staunch support of the conflict) could drift downwards.

Israel’s leaders must act quickly and decidedly to prevent this.
