Israeli intensification

There are reports that Israel is intensifying its military engagement in Gaza. Given the “leaflet drop” across Gaza yesterday these reports are likely to be accurate.

However, just as Israel enters the third stage of this war by deepening and widening its ground offensive, there will also be an increase in the global community’s criticism.

I have some questions for these critics however.

Why is it that just as the rockets rain down on Gaza, the Palestinians in the West Bank are going about their lives normally?

Could it be that Gaza is governed by a terrorist regime and the West Bank is not? or

Could it be that terrorists are using Gaza as a launch pad for their anti-Israeli crusade? or

Could it be that all Palestinians in the West Bank have chosen the path of peace and democracy, whilst a lunatic fringe in Gaza have not and will never?

Does Hamas care about the human value of the ordinary Palestinian people or their political value?

This war was not launched to hammer the ordinary Palestinians. It was launched to put a stop to Hamas’ terrorist activities.

The choice facing Israel was quite simple. Act or do nothing.

What would you do if it was your family? Your friends? Your community?

But more importantly what would you want your government to do?

Here again the criticism flows freely but is it not the fundamental duty of government to protect its citizens?

Great article. What a change to see somebody in the UK actually ask these questions. Doubt you will get a reply though. The world feels much happier critising Israel than understand and/or supporting us!
Most Israeli's want to live in peace with our neighbors, but we are entitled to live without fear of rocket attacks. Most Israeli arabs want the same - it's too bad about the fanatics (on both sides of course).

Whist its true that one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter - one must weigh up the cost of such unilateral measures. Must so many be persecuted for the follies of so few?....
