Today’s announcement by Israel that it will halt its military campaign for three hours on a daily basis is intended as a goodwill gesture. Hamas must respond in a similar fashion or else the 24 hour war must continue.
The international community must also understand the nature of this interregnum and apply the pressure on Hamas to cease its campaign (which continues to hurt those very people they claim to be concerned about the most; the Palestinians).
