North-South Divide

As the world’s eyes focus on the Middle East and the multitude of difficulties there, let us not forget the globe’s other ‘flashpoints’. One of these is to the East; the Koreas.

Relations between Seoul and Pyongyang have been on a downward trajectory for some months now, with leaks about the health of North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong II, rebuttals and continuing unrest about North Korea’s nuclear ambitions prevalent.

But today’s announcement by the North Korean government, that they will not enforce any political or military agreement they have with the South Koreans, turns harsh rhetoric into even harsher reality.

This should worry us all and we must take preventative action now.
